Roman Glass Collection
By the end of the 1st Century AD glass production had increased throughout the Roman Empire hence there are many deposits available to be uncovered. Often the Glass has gone through an opalising process in it's 2 millenia underground. Our material is sourced in Afghanistan, once known as the Bactrian Kingdom. The Silk road ran through this area which was a major trading centre connecting the Roman Empire with China. Bactria was annexed into the Roman Empire, hence the name Roman Glass.
While whole pieces can be fantastically valuable to collectors, these more regular pieces make very affordable and attractive Jewellery with a lovely story to tell.
We've got a fairly large range in store.
